Mount Vernon Campus - Tuesday Oct. 2 - Author and Artist Simon Silva on campus.
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Multicultural Student Services and the Office of Student Life, welcome Simon Silva to the Mount Vernon Campus on Tuesday, October 2, 2007.
Simon is an artist, writer (Small Town Browny) and illustrator who worked in Burlington as a young farm worker picking blueberries.
He will speak about his art, art as a business, creative writing, culture and immigration. He will be extremely motivational especially to English as second language learners, art and writing students and those who have grown up in poverty.
You and/or your students are welcome to join any of the following classrooms to meet him, see his art work and hear him speak.

Whidbey Island Campus - 12 Angry Men - Oct. 18 7:30 - Free!
YOU ARE INVITED …
Student Organizations and Student Leadership will go to a performance of “12 Angry Men” at the Whidbey Playhouse on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m. The play about a group of 12 jurors who are debating whether think the accused is guilty or not.
It’s a great play that makes you think about how groups make decisions, hidden agendas and what biases people have. I saw it years ago and it still has an impact on me. Jimmy Stewart acted in the black and white movie version. Our own Drama Club’s officer, Stephen Quimby, is acting in this performance.
If you’re interested in attending, please respond back to Penny or Robyn in the student organizations office, room #2, Old Main. We will provide the tickets. After the show, we will go to the KaffeHaus, the late night coffeehouse (buy your own drink) on Pioneer, to talk about the show and what insights it gave you about groups & group decisions.

All Pumpkin Pitch machines are built by the participating teams and are an incredible sight to watch! Teams use a medieval style of catapult called "trebuchet" to toss an 8-10lb pumpkin over 1600 feet! Go to www.thehurl.org to learn how you can build a treb. Come join us down at the pits!
