These posters are final projects for our learning community “NW Indian Rock!” exploring the inter-relationships between NW Indian History & NW Geology.
The assignment was to explore the nature of the relationship between culture and local environment for specific Indian bands in the area (e.g. Duwamish, Haida, Upper Skagit/Mishkaiwhu). The poster titles are all in the form of questions that will be on our final.Students developed the assessment /grading criteria for the posters.
We are having a poster session tomorrow, Thurs. June 5th from 12:30 to around 1:45 where students will be available answer your questions as they garner answers for the final.
After that they will be in Angst-43 through Monday.

Mount Vernon Campus - FROM SCRATCH, THEATRE - Thursday June 5th
I'd like to invite you and your students to come and witness some interesting, intelligent theatre this Thursday - June 5 - at 2:15 in the Phil Tarro Theatre. For free.
These 12 students (divided into two groups) created two shows in a pressurized 8-10 hours, starting last week. They created, FROM SCRATCH, and using their Viewpoints Training, two theatre pieces based on the theme "Fear".
Together, working entirely on their own, with no help from Faculty, they devised two shows that are vastly different in tone, and remarkable to witness.
I saw their performance yesterday, and was amazed the the originality and quality of this production. Because of this, it was decided to perform for a larger audience (Tomorrow), Thursday 2:15 PM in the Phillip Tarro Theatre.
The house opens at 2:00 PM...
Thanks,
Mark-O

Mount Vernon Campus - Cardinal Carnival!!!! Join Us - Friday June 6th
Join the Carnival!!!!
This Friday is Cardinal Day and we are celebrating in big top style. You are invited!
Enjoy tacos, Thai, fried chicken and drinks. Bounce yourself sick on two 60 foot inflatable toys. Play one of 10 carnival games; eat some cotton candy and popcorn. Get a henna tattoo. Blow some bubbles. Listen to some groovin’ tunes Activities begin at 12:00 lunch will be served at 12:30. Have a great time!
Regarding the graffiti reported last week, Dr. Tollefson said in an email to Mount Vernon students yesterday that all of the information suggests there is a relatively low safety risk and he plans to conduct business as usual for Cardinal Day. While we know the vast majority of threats such as this one are false alarms, Dr. Tollefson said that additional security personnel would be on duty. He encourages everyone to join him at Cardinal Day!
The students of Skagit Valley College are committed to hosting this annual event and they are supported in this effort by college administration and employees. The Program Board, and Office of Student Life staff will be there, we hope you will be too.
If you have any questions/concerns about this event please email laura.morris@skagit.edu
