Auditions for the SVC fall production of Boy Get’s Girl by Rebecca Gilman (Churning into Butter) will happen today Wednesday.
Time: 3 pm and 7 pm
And on Friday at 6 pm
Where: Phil Tarro Theatre, Skagit Valley College.
What to bring: yourself and a monologue, if you don’t have a monologue you can cold read. I do think highly of an actor who is prepared with a monologue….
Performances: November 9,10,16,17,18
Rehearsals will either be in the afternoons or in the evenings.
What is Boy Gets Girl about?
Sex, Relationships, Men, Women, Stalkers, Creepy weird stalkers, Life-changing creepy weird stalkers, oh… and a old man who makes adult films and is obsessed with women’s breasts. Sound interesting?
It is written by Rebecca Gilman, an award winning playwright who you will love. She thinks like you and talks like you. The time is now and the characters are fun and interesting.
The main character is a professional journalist who goes out on a blind date and the guy doesn’t understand the word, “NO!” The play then takes a Law and Order, SVU kind of turn, as the cops are brought in and restraining orders are made. The play is composed of beautiful scenes that explore men and women’s relationships, both sexual and platonic, friends and co-workers. We are looking for one older guy to play the adult film producer that is interviewed by the main character. Please ask your professors to try out. The only requirement is that they need to be comfortable with talking about female anatomy.
What are you doing this Fall? We are looking for a few great women, a few good men, one very creepy stalker, and a gentleman of distinguished age.
